Of course, a translation has to come as close to the source document as possible in terms of tone, style and length. However, there is no such thing as a literal translation, and in order to be true to the original, a translator has to take linguistic liberties and literally create a new text in the target language.

There are budget options if you’re happy with a rough draft of a translation to get a general sense of what the original document is about or a simple read-through of a document to correct the most glaring errors.
In most cases, however, I would recommend a more rigorous approach in the interest of producing deliverables in the consistently high quality my clients have come to expect.

Yes, I am NAATI certified for translations from German into English and have a diploma with merit from the renowned Chartered Institute of Linguists for translations from English into German. If you need NAATI certified translations from French into English or vice versa (or indeed any other language combination), I can still help you.

It depends. Some languages are more wordy and others are more economical in expressing the same concept.
A script in French, for example, can be up to 20% longer than in English. This is particularly important when there are time constraints, such as for voice-overs or other texts that will be read out loud or recorded.
